Virginia State Trooper Jerry Hines was killed in the line of duty on February 20, 1989. A generation after his death, we are introduced to Trooper Hines’ family members and learn of their journeys. There are divergent views of the death penalty in the family, which led to emotional pain and a serious division among its members.
